A price list for your treatments
Set up a catalogue of treatments, each with a default price and a GST rate. New clinics start with a starter list that you can edit, so you are not typing in fifty items before your first bill.

Bills at checkout, with GST when it applies
Pick the treatments done today and the bill is ready. Where GST applies to an item, it is added at the rate set in your catalogue. Many dental treatments are not taxed, which is why the rate is set per item. See GST on dental services and check with your CA for your own situation.
Khata: the patient ledger
Every patient has a khata, a running ledger of every charge and every payment. You can see at a glance what a patient has been billed, what they have paid and what is due.
- Part payments. Take ₹2,000 today and the rest next visit. The balance stays on the khata.
- Dues per patient. Open a patient and the amount due is right there.
- Payment method. Record whether the payment was cash, UPI or card.
OPD Sathi records payments you collect; it does not collect online payments for you yet. A UPI payment is noted as UPI once the money has reached your account.
Treatment packages with installments
For longer treatments such as braces, implants or full-mouth rehabilitation, create a package with a total cost and a number of installments. Each installment is tracked against the patient’s khata, so you know what is paid and what is pending without a separate notebook.
Billing reports
Billing reports show what was billed and collected over a period, so month-end is a report rather than a hunt through paper bills. Pro clinics also get an analytics dashboard for a wider view of the practice.
An example from a root canal
A patient needs a root canal and crown for ₹9,500. They pay ₹3,000 by UPI at the first sitting and ₹2,500 in cash at the second. The khata shows ₹5,500 paid and ₹4,000 due, and the receptionist can tell the patient that before they leave. For ideas on structuring this, see dental treatment installments.
