Write the prescription where the patient’s record is
The doctor opens the patient file and writes the prescription there. Because it sits beside the visit history and the medical alerts, the doctor can check allergies or blood thinners without switching screens.
Print it for the patient
Print the prescription at the end of the visit and hand it over as usual. Patients who prefer paper get paper, and the clinic still keeps its own copy in the file.
Patients can see it again later
Patients sign in to the patient portal with their mobile number and OTP. Their prescriptions are listed there, along with appointments and bills. A patient who forgets the dose of a medicine on day three can look it up instead of calling the clinic.
Every prescription stays with the patient history
Old prescriptions are part of the patient’s file. When someone returns with the same problem months later, the doctor can see what was prescribed last time. This is especially useful in a clinic with more than one doctor, where the patient may see a different person each time.
Who can write prescriptions
Prescriptions are written by doctors. Front-desk staff have their own logins with the access that role needs, and the audit log records who changed what and when. See team access for how roles work.
Prescriptions in OPD Sathi are written and printed by the doctor. Make sure your prescriptions meet the requirements of the National Dental Commission (which replaced the Dental Council of India in March 2026) and your State Dental Council.
