A simpler Practo Ray alternative for small dental clinics

Practo Ray is a broad clinic platform with ABDM features, SMS reminders and online payments. OPD Sathi is a narrower, lower-priced tool built for dental front desks. Here is an honest comparison, including who should stay with Ray.

We make OPD Sathi. Facts about Practo Ray are taken from Practo’s own pages and linked below, as listed on their website in November 2026. Practo may have changed things since, so please check their site.

What Practo Ray is, in its own words

Ray is practice management software from Practo for doctors and clinics. On its product page, Practo lists:

  • Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) compliance, with UHI access and upload of patient health records.
  • Automated appointment SMS that let patients reschedule or cancel.
  • Online payments by patients, including before they reach the clinic.
  • The Practo Pro app for managing the clinic and viewing records on the go.
  • Use by “50,000+ doctors”, and security measures such as two-factor authentication.

We did not see a tooth chart or other dental-specific features mentioned on that page, so ask Practo if charting matters to you.

Price and trial, as published

Practo’s plans page lists a CM Atom plan at 999 a month on a one-year term (up to 50 doctors, 3,000 free SMS, 5 GB storage), and a Clinic Management plan with unlimited doctors, 8,000 free SMS and 20 GB, priced by term length (check the page for current offers). Prices are shown without a currency symbol, and the page does not say whether GST is included. It also offers a free 7-day trial.

OPD Sathi has a 6-month free trial with everything included and no card. After that: Starter ₹99 a month (1 doctor and 1 front-desk login), Clinic ₹299 (up to 3 doctors and 5 staff) and Pro ₹499 (unlimited staff, WhatsApp messages, analytics), all excluding GST. These plans are not like for like, since Ray includes SMS, ABDM and payments that we do not.

Who should stay with Practo Ray

  • You want ABDM features or ABHA-linked records now.
  • You want patients to pay online, or you rely on automated SMS reminders.
  • You already use Practo’s patient discovery and want everything under one vendor.
  • You run several specialities or a multi-centre group and want one platform for all.

Who may prefer OPD Sathi

  • A small dental clinic that wants appointments, records, prescriptions and billing, and nothing else to learn.
  • You want a published price starting at ₹99 a month and a six-month trial before paying anything.
  • You want a khata for every patient, with part payments and treatment installments, built around how Indian clinics collect fees. See khata and billing.
  • You have a front desk team and want separate staff logins with an audit log.

What OPD Sathi does not have

To be plain: no tooth chart, lab orders, inventory, SMS, insurance claims, teleconsultation, iOS app, online payment collection or ABDM integration, and no consolidated reports across branches. If any of these is essential, Practo Ray or another product may suit you better. See our roundup of dental software in India.

Switching from Ray

Ask Practo how to export your patient list. If you can get an Excel or CSV file, OPD Sathi can bulk import it. Run both for a week before you cancel, and keep a copy of your old data.

Common questions

What is a good alternative to Practo Ray for a small dental clinic?

It depends on what you need. OPD Sathi is a simpler, lower-priced option for dental clinics that need appointments, records, prescriptions and billing. If you need ABDM, SMS or online payments, Ray may still be the better fit.

Is OPD Sathi cheaper than Practo Ray?

The published entry prices are lower: OPD Sathi starts at ₹99 a month plus GST after a free 6-month trial. Ray lists plans from 999 a month. The products differ in what they include, so compare features, not just price.

Does OPD Sathi support ABDM or ABHA?

No. OPD Sathi has no ABDM or ABHA integration. If that matters to you today, stay with a product that lists it, such as Practo Ray.

Can I move my patients from Practo Ray to OPD Sathi?

If you can export your patient list from Ray as an Excel or CSV file, you can bulk import it into OPD Sathi. Check with Practo what they let you export.
